Rice Lake Hard Cider
We are dedicated to crafting unique, yet approachable fermented ciders, beginning with fresh-pressed Ontario apples from Algoma Orchards in nearby Newcastle.
What is Hard Cider, anyway?
At its ‘core’, hard cider is a fermented alcoholic beverage made from the juice of apples. Just as grapes are fermented into wine, apples are fermented into cider. The alcohol content of hard cider is lower than most wines and higher than most beers — Rice Lake Hard Cider comes in at 6.2%.
Hand-crafted artisan ciders made with local ingredients celebrate the return to a more ‘locavore’ way of living. Rice Lake Hard Ciders are vegan, naturally gluten-free, and low in sugar.
Is it really sweet?
When you think cider, do you think sweet? That is true of many ciders out there and can be a preference for some. However, craft ciders tend to be very complex and run the gamut from super-dry to sweet. Our cider is made with freshly pressed, local Ontario apples and is very crisp, quite dry and all about natural fruit flavour.
