The Proof is in the Shine – History of Murphy’s Law Distillery

Attending school in the hills of West Virginia, Ben Murphy was quickly introduced to pure Appalachian Shine and all the goodness that came with it. While attending Ohio Valley University, Ben became very popular on campus due to his distribution and sale of shine. Did we mention Ohio Valley University was a “dry” Christian University? After graduating with a Bachelor of Psychology Degree, Ben decided to pursue the other knowledge he had gained while attending school, how to run shine.

Upon returning to the family farm in Ontario, Canada, Ben would begin to incorporate his younger brother Sullivan into the operation. The two would begin running their homemade still within one of the barns on the family farm, unbeknownst to their parents of course. After being encouraged by friends and family the brothers would decide to pursue legal sale of their liquid craft.

Legally born in 2015, Murphy’s Law Distillery would earn its space on LCBO store shelves within their first year of operation, a tall task for any craft distillery. Fast forward through the years, Murphy’s Law is now available in several provinces across Canada with multiple products on shelf.
